Roy R. Matthews

In loving memory of a man described as kind, giving, helping, and supportive are just a few mere adjectives to describe Roy Matthews. He could make a friend wherever he went. Forty years spent working at Duquesne University, with recently retiring spending his days filled with his grand fur babies, Benji, Bunpree, and bunny Pete. He was always with his children, and brothers, and surrounded by many, many friends to fill his retirement days. He was not one to sit still. He was preceded in Death by his loving wife Carol Matthews for 37 years to whom he became a caregiver in the last years of her life. He was a friend to many and always available to meet for a good time. He enjoyed his time being surrounded by his family and enjoying casino trips, hoping to hit it big! His greatest win in life was marrying his wife who he said saved his life many times over. The pride and second big win in his life are his children Brian and Jennifer, who both were graduates of Duquesne University. He had a sense of humor and a zest for life, even on hard days. He showed up for anyone who needed him. Proceeded in death wife, Carol Matthews, his father and mother Roy/Dorothy Matthews, and brother Gary. Survived in death by his dearest children Brian, Monica, and Jennifer. Brothers, Dennis and Kenny Matthews. His light will continue to shine through all the lives he has touched. Service to be arranged at Christ Our Redemer with Ceremony of Life to be celebrated.
